Milwaukee

SmithGroup has been a design leader in Milwaukee for decades, and our team has driven some of the city’s most iconic and transformational projects. Our office along the Milwaukee River in the Saddlery Building—an open, collaborative space that once housed saddle makers and sail makers—lies in the heart of the city’s thriving entrepreneurial hub, the Historic Third Ward. The lofty, industrial-style office is covered in exposed Cream City brick and offers a variety of work and collaboration spaces to support our growing interdisciplinary staff. As demonstrated with our office space and location, we are committed to thriving and equitable urban centers like Milwaukee. Being situated on the riverfront is reflective of our firm’s leadership in resilient urban waterfronts.

Our Milwaukee team has had a positive impact on the region with well-known projects such as the Harbor District Riverwalk, Kenosha Innovation District, City of Racine Lincoln-King Community Center and Clinic, Kinnickinnic River Jackson Park, and recently completed improvements to Milwaukee Public Schools Playfields. This builds on a legacy of projects like Milwaukee’s stunning Lakeshore State Park and Pier Wisconsin at Discovery World, as well as our planning for Marquette University. Our expertise in urban design, architecture, interiors, and waterfronts has played a significant role in revitalizing former industrial centers and transforming waterfronts throughout the world.

We continue to build on the reputation and impact we’ve made in the region with clients such as the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD), City of Kenosha, City of Milwaukee, City of Racine, Milwaukee County Parks, the Milwaukee Harbor District, and University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
